Are you looking for a book worth reading over the holidays? We ”bumped into” our church librarian in a restaurant a couple weeks ago and she excitedly showed us the book she was holding in her hands and told me if there is one book I needed to read soon it was this book. That book is The Shack, by William P. Young. (No bias, but Young grew up as a missionaries’ kid in the highlands of New Guinea). The Shack is now a New York Times best seller (and it is not about New Guinea, by the way), having sold more than 2 million copies. We have now read it and we agree with our church librarian – it is a must read! The book is being compared to Pilgrim’s Progress in terms of the impact it could have on our culture, but it is much different than that book in terms of its story line. For more info about the book, check out this website: http://theshackbook.com/index.html. I know a couple other people in our class who have read it already. This is a book you and I could sit in a coffee shop and talk about for hours after you read it. Give it a try!
